Smore Time!

What's camping without smores?
It's a standing joke that we always have pictures of Heather eating. :)

Little Birdies

Tori and Ryan put leaves in their pants and ran around the campground flapping their arms saying, "Tweet, tweet, tweet."

Hiking with the Demars

The Demars were able to join us for a night of our camping trip. We had a lot of fun exploring.

Brothers and a Big Tree

We found this big tree while we were on a hike during our August '09 at Kanaskit-Palmer.

Bugs, bugs, bugs...

During our camping trip in August of 2009 we came across some great bugs. At the top is a millipede nest. The next 2 are of a inch worm that found it's way onto Jeff's shirt.

My Book Worm

Gavin is engrossed in his book... "Hey Mom. I'm reading..." He poses for a picture to appease me.

My Birthday Card

This is a birthday card Tori, my niece, made for me. She is always so sweet and thoughtful. She makes wonderful cards!

Birthday Wrapping Paper

Jeff and the boys decorated their own wrapping paper for my birthday June 4, 2009. I turned 29.

Black Diamond Bakery's Oven

We had breakfast at the Black Diamond Bakery during our camping trip. It was sooooo good. They bake their bread in a wood burning stove. They giving mini tours to see the oven. It's one of the only wood burning stoves left. They bake most if not all their bread on it. (I can't remember all the details of the tour.

Inside of the Train

This is inside the train. It has living quarters. The benches the boys are on are above bunks. They made a very good use of their space. The last picture is of a water spout.

Old Train

Black Diamond used to be a coal mining town. This is a train that would transport the workers.

Black Diamond

We went into Black Diamond for breakfast one morning at the Black Diamond Bakery. It was soooooooooooo good. After we went and saw the sites in Black Diamond. This used to be their jail. I guess they didn't have as much crime back then.

Camping at Kanaskit-Palmer

For my 29th birthday we went camping at Kanaskit-Palmer. It was funny because we ended up with campsite 4 on my birthday, June 4th.

Smores on my Birthday

The Demars came up to visit on my birthday and we had smores. Tori's (6) the one with the chocolate beard. Aaron (almost 2) is on my lap.

June 09 Camping

My boys hiking and playing in the river. Daddy is a great rocker skipper.

Scientists at work

The boys are hard at work finding bugs to log in Gavin's kindergarten journal.

Big Rock

We found a tree whose roots were exposed as a result of the river washing away the soil from underneath it. Look at the giant rock that the tree is still holding onto. Bear in mind how HUGE Jeff is when comparing size. Needless to say, it was a big rock.

Green River

The river goes down around the rock side on the right. You see how placid the river looks. Looks can be deceiving. The red sign says "Dangerous River Conditions Ahead."

Kanaskit-Palmer June 09

While we were camping for my birthday celebration we went on a hike down to the river.

Favorite Picture of My Boys

This is my favorite picture of the boys! Gavin is 6. Ryan is 4. It was taken June 5, 2009. We went camping at Kanaskit-Palmer campground for my birthday. We took a book of Pacific Northwest Insects and matched bugs we found with their picture in the book. If you look, you can see a millipede we found. Gavin has his notebook under his arm where we documented our findings.

Sshhh....

They're always so cute when they're sleeping.

Duet

Before the Opera by Children performance the kids got up and performed little numbers. Gavin and Tori sang I am a Child of God together.

More Opera by Children

They sang. They danced. They built sets. They wrote the opera. They did it all!
